Formulas
Many customers ask us how we create our formulas?
A lot of careful thought and attention to detail is required to create our formulas.
Essential Oils
The first thing we do is consider the purpose of the formula. What do we want to achieve?
Knowing the purpose allows us to begin selecting the primary and supportive ingredients.
We then do some testing with the doses and formulation.
At this point we begin testing the scent. We will make several changes before finishing with a formula we are happy with.
Once we have a formulation we like, we try to create additional formulas that can achieve the same purpose. We do this because certain scents or formulas will naturally appeal to one person more than another. Example. One person may like ylang ylang while another prefers lavender.
Carrier Oils
We always use peanut and black sesame seed oil. Why? Because both peanut oil and black sesame oil have many benefits for the skin. Both oils have been used in Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese medicine for a long time.
Peanut oil is light and fast absorbing.
In traditional Chinese herbal medicine, the color black helps to purify the blood. In traditional Chinese herbal medicine, it's considered important for women to maintain healthy blood. As a result, we always use black sesame seed oil in our formulas.
The third carrier oil we use depends on the purpose we want to achieve. We also rotate the third carrier oil because some customers may simply prefer almond oil while others may prefer sunflower seed oil.
Our Goal
Our goal is to give you a selection of choices to help you find a formula you like.
